Retail Development Manager

About the role                                                                                       

As our Retail Development Manager, you are responsible for all matters related to shop-fit and store opening in the Village. You will be working closely with Brands and across the business on a wide range of activities including shop-fit orientation, communications with Brands on compliance, information collection and plans, communications with internal teams, manage external parties and manage concurrent projects.

 

Key responsibilities

The key responsibilities of this role will include some or all the following.

 

  • Coordinate fit-out process for new openings and re-merchandising/re-fit programmes for existing stores
  • Coordinate Brand inductions and briefings related to shop-fits.
  • Liaise with the Commercialisation and/or Leasing Teams, Retail, Operations and Legal Departments on all shop-fit related issues
  • Develop sketch schemes for brands to be approved, procured and project managed on site from inception to completion
  • Ensure that proper and complete information is issued by Brands to Value Retail for approval of plans, samples etc.
  • Follow-up snagging with Brands at completion of each project and ensure they submit all relevant post-completion documents on time
  • Coordinate temporary fit-outs for existing Brands or tenants on temporary leases
  • Schedule all Brand visits in coordination with other departments
  • Prepare time and cost estimates for each project
  • Monitor shop-fit quality to achieve standards of excellence; conduct construction site supervision
  • Ensure that internal works are executed by Brands in accordance with Value Retail internal regulations and local government regulations
  • Ensure that Brands comply with statutory requests from Value Retail and local authorities on warranties, insurance, permits, and local fire regulations
  • Facilitate effective communication systems with all contractors, project managers, and maintenance suppliers and monitor progress of works on-site to ensure work schedule is adhered to
  • Manage flow of information between local departments and external consultants, including appointments, plan submissions, timing, and billing
  • Manage local blueprint projects and local special projects
  • Devise new systems and procedures for the shop-fit process and improve those already existing
  • Attend weekly conference calls and meetings with other Teams
  • Address all administrative issues related to Retail Development and compile related documentation
  • Prepare photomontages and architectural plan sketches for internal case studies

 

About You

We are looking for an individual who can display the following experience and skills:

  • Degree education or relevant qualification is preferrable
  • Proven experience as a surveyor or construction project management, a Qualified Architect would be beneficial
  • Computer literate and high proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Photoshop and 3D visualisation software (SketchUp or alternative)
  • Proven track record on leading store openings process
  • Strong project management capability and ability to manage several projects concurrently
  • Ability to prioritise your work to meet tight and multiple deadlines with an eye for detail
  • Able to work well with all levels across the business and customers with a creative and open minded capability to adapt to a fast pace environment
  • A problem-solver who can proactively identify problems and make recommendations
  • A good communicator
  • Exceptional negotiation skills and be discreet on communication
  • Ability to review and present policy documents
  • Exposure to European / international companies
  • Fluent in English and local Village language, any other European language would be beneficial
