Senior Legal Manager - Kildare Village - Full Time, Permanent

As our Legal Manager, you will help manage the legal function at Kildare Village (KV) with a focus on the key responsibilities below.

Key responsibilities

The key responsibilities of this role will include some or all the following.

 

General

  • Manage / assist with production and negotiation of all commercial contracts, including marketing agreements, supplier contracts, operations contracts, brand events and retail events.
  • Manage risk and compliance including applications / interactions with public entities, such as local county council and community related matters.
  • Monitor changes in the law (local and EU) and advise on its effect on the operations of the Village’s practice and procedure and governance.

Commercialisation & Brand Relations

  • Work with the Legal Director to manage brand requests (and guest interactions) while liaising with central legal team.
  • Support other teams within the Village with regard to legal agreements for brand events and associated marketing.
  • Help manage, advise on and monitor self service contracts and contract management processes  across KV teams.
  • Work with Marketing, Operations and Retail teams on promotions, activations and commercial moments throughout the year
  • Provide legal advice and support to Value Retail’s rapidly growing online presence and digital marketing campaigns
  • Support Legal director with any commercial disputes that may arise.
  • Participate in central and local compliance project groups and provide advice.
  • Assist in managing all legal issues relating to shop-fit

Cross-Functional Support

  • Support Retail, Operations, Marketing and Finance on all legal issues.
  • Advise on any issues which may give rise to litigation such as insolvency arrears or potential breaches of contracts
  • Participate in Retail, Commercialisation, and Marketing overview meetings
  • Support and assist on legal issues arising from construction or development matters.
  • Work with Group Legal Director and local team on community related matters.

Corporate/Audits

  • Liaise with central legal and external legal on corporate issues, including the preparation of board minutes, powers of attorney, company corporate transactions etc.
  • Work with Legal Director regarding banking relationships, including reporting and compliance obligations
  • Liaise with Corporate, Legal, and Finance central team on insurance issues and claims.

Intellectual Property

  • Liaise with colleagues to manage and protect Value Retail intellectual property, which includes trademarks, copyrights, and word marks
  • Monitor correct usage of Brand’s trademarks

Data Protection

  • Liaise with colleagues and external counsel to assure local compliance with data protection legislation.

Administrative

  • Maintain and manage document management sharing systems
  • Assist with preparation of and distribution of internal reports
  • Manage relationships with suppliers, especially regarding cost control
  • Review all legal invoices.

 

About You

We are looking for an individual who can display the following experience and skills:

  • Proven experience as a lawyer and possess legal qualification in Ireland
  • More than 4 years of Post-Qualification Experience + inhouse experience is preferrable
  • Expertise in commercial law and up to date knowledge of the relevant legislation
  • Working knowledge of commercial (and/or marketing) contracts
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent drafting skills with an eye for detail
  • Impactful relationship skills
  • Able to negotiate with the ability to demonstrate steady commercial common sense
  • Able to influence internal local stakeholders confidently and independently
  • Ability to Interpret and translate legal matters into clear advice for management
  • Adopt a deliberate critical thinking approach to resolving complex situations

  • Good project management skills
  • Able to work well with all levels across the business and external partners and adapt to a fast pace environment
  • Ability to both work as part of a team and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Fluent in English
