As our Legal Manager, you will report to the Legal Director and be part of the legal team. You will be involved in all legal issues, including preparation of contracts, agreements, compliance, litigation, etc.

 

You will monitor all changes of local legislation & regulations and analyse the effect on our Village. Your role is to liaise with all internal teams to keep them updated. 

 

What you will be doing 

  • Monitor all legal issues for Maasmechelen Village.
  • Review and draft legal documents, liaise with parties involved.
  • Monitor and review EU/national/local legislation and its effect on our Village.
  • Cooperate with the other departments (remerchandising, marketing, retail, merchandising,…) by attending team meetings and coordinating weekly or monthly catch up calls.
  • Drafting all sorts of contracts with regards to Village events, such as photographer licenses, entertainment / performer contracts, partnership agreements and assist with new supplier forms.
  • Ensure compliance of third party suppliers with contractual obligations under their agreements with Maasmechelen Village.
  • Assist the other Villages legal teams with commercial and remerchandising queries.
  • Assist in corporate housekeeping related matters such as managing statutory documents e.g. Articles of Association, board meetings and minutes. 
  • Support in the negotiation process of licenses, service agreements and remerchandising programs.
  • Participate in Risk and Compliance processes, advice and follow up.
  • Manage and protect the company’s intellectual property, which includes trademarks, copyrights, and word marks.
  • Assist with preparation of and distribution of internal approval forms & reports.

  • Proven experience as a lawyer and legal qualification in local jurisdiction.
  • More than 5 years of Post-Qualification Experience is preferrable.
  • Fluent in English and Dutch. Other languages would be beneficial.
  • Proven experience in drafting legal documents with an eye for detail.
  • Sounds knowledge in leasing law and in general commercial contract with up to date knowledge of the relevant legislation.
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office).
  • Able to work well with all levels across the business and adapt to a fast pace environment.
  • Good client relationship management and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrate proactiveness, the ability to multi-task and can work with strict deadlines.
  • Ability to both work as a team and work independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Positive, flexible mindset, demonstrating professionalism and a common sense approach.
